Lawd have mercy, it has been a week. People comin’, people goin’, Buddy all actin’ a fool: What’s goin’ on? What’s goin’ on? Honey child, whyn’t you run along and practice yo’ typing and leave the serious business to the adult folk? Kid don’t stop talkin’ so much, he’ll get his tongue sunburned. Mmm mmm mmm. It. Has. Been. A. Week. Sometimes you just need a treat. Listen up, y’all:
Cream
1-1/2 cups shortening
2 cups brown sugar
Blend in
2 eggs
1/2 cup molasses
Add
4-1/2 cups flour
4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp ginger
1 tsp cloves
Roll dough between your impeccably clean paws, forming ~1″ balls. Dip in granulated sugar. Gently flatten. Bake at 350° for 8-9 minutes. Cool on a wire rack until set.
Mmm mmm mmm. Sweet. Spicy. Chewy. Sorta like Yours Truly.

Alright little Miss Thing, what’s with the Southern act? Belle of the Bowl now? Have you been watching too many cartoons while we’ve been gone, or are you just trying to throw your weight around (insert comment from Daddy here) with your lil’ brother (don’t forget you are the same age… oh wait, he’s a month older!)?
Also don’t forget that he is a nervous little guy and had a rougher beginning than you. I know you understood me yesterday morning when I told you I didn’t feel well and needed to visit the doctor, but he thought he was being abandoned. I am coming home from the hospital soon so be nice, don’t hog the water bowl, share your treats and save some for me.
Love, Mom
